2026 HEAD & NECK CANCER SURVIVORSHIP SYMPOSIUM

The 2026 Head & Neck Cancer Survivorship Symposium is heading to Boston on Saturday, July 18, and we want you there. Join us for a free, full-day event packed with expert sessions on survivorship care, nutrition, and life after treatment, plus real stories from survivors who've been in your shoes.

We're thrilled to announce that Rob Paulsen, the voice behind iconic characters in Animaniacs, Pinky and the Brain, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and a head and neck cancer survivor himself, will be joining us to share his story. You won't want to miss it.

This event can be attended in person or viewed online. One of the most common things we hear is that people feel alone during their head and neck cancer experience, like no one else truly understands. The Symposium changes that. You'll be surrounded by hundreds of people who get it, because they've lived it too.

The full schedule is now available online. Check it out and start planning your day.

DON'T MISS THE POST-SYMPOSIUM BOSTON TOUR (HALF THE SPOTS, ALREADY GONE)!

Boston is calling, and you don't want to miss this. After the Symposium wraps up, join us for a guided evening tour that takes you through the heart of the city - by land and by sea!

We'll start with a narrated trolley ride through historic downtown and end with a scenic cruise on the Charles River. It's a fully planned, stress-free night out with fellow survivors, patients, caregivers, and the people who make this community so special. No logistics, no maps, just good company and a great time.

The tour is free for survivors/caregivers and one guest, and just $25 for all other attendees. We only have 90 spots, and half are already gone, so don't wait. Register today and make your Boston experience one to remember.

WEBINARS

THE FIRST YEAR OF HEAD AND NECK CANCER: Guidance, Support, and What Lies Ahead

A new diagnosis of head and neck cancer can feel overwhelming. In the first months, patients and families are often faced with complex treatment decisions, unfamiliar medical terminology, and significant physical and emotional changes. This webinar is designed to provide guidance and practical insight during this critical time.

Join a panel of medical experts, a survivor, and a caregiver as they discuss what to expect in the early stages following diagnosis — including treatment planning, managing side effects, nutrition and speech considerations, emotional well-being, and building a strong support system. Attendees will gain a better understanding of the road ahead and learn strategies to feel informed, prepared, and empowered throughout the journey.

Whether newly diagnosed, serving as a caregiver, or supporting a loved one, participants will gain valuable perspectives and practical resources to move forward with confidence.

MOVE-A-THON WRAP-UP

Thank you to everyone who participated in the 2026 Move-A-Thon and helped make this year such a success. Because of your support, we raised $131,502 that will be used to fund our programs, allowing us to continue raising awareness and providing support to those in need.

Together, participants logged more than 303,821 total minutes of movement through walks, workouts, bike rides, dance sessions, and everyday activities, showing that every move matters.

Whether you registered, donated, shared your story, encouraged a friend, or simply helped spread awareness, thank you for being part of this community and helping bring more attention to head and neck cancer.

Alphabet Soup? No, It’s Precision Medicine

As a head and neck cancer survivor, your treatment plan wasn't random. It may have been shaped by factors most patients were never told about, and it might look different from someone else's with the exact same diagnosis.

It's called precision medicine. Our latest blog breaks it down so you don't need a medical degree to understand it.

MEET OUR AMBASSADORS

Hector Basham

Director, Air & Marine Interdiction Agent (Retired); US Customs and Border Protection – Air and Marine Operations | Survivor of Metastatic Stage IV Salivary Gland Cancer

In January 2024, Hector received a phone call that changed everything. The diagnosis: a rare, aggressive stage IV cancer in his neck, bordering the base of his skull. The prognosis was serious, the risks were severe, and the road ahead was uncertain. What carried him forward was faith.

His surgery lasted thirteen hours. The tumor sat over his facial nerve, and surgeons warned him of a strong likelihood of permanent facial palsy or worse. He walked into the operating room not with fear, but with what he describes as a peace he couldn't explain. On the third day after surgery, when doctors expected weeks of immobility, he stood up.

But the hardest part was still ahead. Radiation, chemotherapy, and news of metastasis followed. Today, traces of cancer remain, though inactive, and Hector continues treatment. He also continues to share his story, and his account of what faith, medicine, and an unexpected move across the country all had to do with his survival is one worth reading in full.

NEWS & SHORTS

ORAL CAVITY CANCER SURVIVORS - YOUR INPUT WANTED

Researchers at the University of Washington are studying why oral cavity cancer is increasingly being diagnosed in people who have never smoked and in younger patients. To better understand what factors may be contributing, they're asking oral cavity cancer survivors to complete a short, anonymous online survey (10–20 minutes) about health history, lifestyle, environmental exposures, and more. Participation is voluntary and responses are confidential. If you've been diagnosed with oral cavity cancer and are 18 or older, your experience could help shape future research. ACCESS THE SURVEY HERE.
