WE HAVE A NEW LOGO!

We're excited to unveil the new Head & Neck Cancer logo!  We hope that you love it as much as we do.  We wanted our new logo to look fresh, timeless, and better reflect who we are and what we do.

We chose to keep the same navy blue and teal color scheme we've been using the past few years and use the burgundy color from the head and neck cancer ribbon as an accent color.

The new logo is being slowly rolled out, so for the next few months, you might see both the old and new logos used. If you would like to use our new logo on your website or for something else, please email us at hello@headandneck.org for access. While we would love for you to use our logo and link to us, please note that any use of our logo must be approved by our development and marketing team in advance.

In related news...drum roll...we're getting very close to having our new website up and running as well, so stay tuned for details on that in the next month (hopefully)!

Below are links to a video that Nicole Webber Design did about the process of making the new logo for us.  She did great work, and if you're interested in the artistic process of the design, click below for a short video.  Both links are the same video, so just choose whichever platform you prefer.

Join us for an insightful webinar tailored for laryngectomy survivors and their loved ones. This empowering session will delve into the multifaceted journey of life post-laryngectomy, offering invaluable guidance and inspiration from three remarkable survivors who have traversed similar paths.

Communication lies at the heart of human connection, and adapting to new methods of expression can be both challenging and liberating. Our panel of survivors will share their personal experiences and insights on navigating the diverse landscape of communication devices, offering practical tips and strategies to help you find your voice again.

Beyond the realm of communication, this webinar will explore the broader spectrum of life after laryngectomy from adjusting to a new normal to finding joy in familial bonds and cherished hobbies. Our speakers will illuminate the path forward with resilience, optimism, and a spirit of embracing life's possibilities.

Whether you're a laryngectomy survivor, a caregiver, or simply seeking to understand and support those on this journey, this webinar promises to be an enlightening and uplifting experience.

NEWS AND SHORTS

MEET OUR NEWEST AMBASSADOR:
Scott Folmar
Quality Assurance Manager, Mass Virtual Survivor of Osteoscarcoma; Orlando, FL

Scott’s journey began in the summer of 2018 when he noticed swelling on the roof and back of his mouth. As a healthy, athletic, and active 34-year-old, he didn’t think much of it initially. In August, during his regular dental cleaning, Scott mentioned the swelling to his dentist and was referred on to an oral surgeon.

Eventually Scott was told that he had a tumor and a surgery was scheduled to remove the tumor, several teeth and part of the maxilla. The area occupied by the tumor would be replaced with a bone graft from his left leg’s fibula. This approach aimed to allow for dental implants to replace the teeth embedded in the removed tumor and to maintain.  A biopsy of the tumor confirmed that it was osteosarcoma. Cancer cells were also within the margins of the graft and Scott would need radiation on both sides of his face.

Proton beam radiation was recommended for its precise targeting, reducing collateral damage to nearby facial structures compared to traditional IMRT radiation therapy.

Scott endured many side effects and challenges, but now feels like a  different person than he was in 2018, more grateful, present, and authentic. He has become more empathetic and compassionate, thriving on personal connections and aiming to make a positive impact in others’ lives. He hopes to leverage his story and experiences to inspire, motivate, and support cancer patients and survivors as an ambassador.
