HNCA Welcomes New Board Members

On September 17, the HNCA Board of Directors held their Fall board meeting in Charleston, South Carolina. It was a busy meeting with a full agenda during which the board and staff reviewed the past year's successes and began planning for the upcoming year. We recognize that our ability to grow and expand our programming is due in large part to our extremely dedicated, caring, and involved board, made up of medical and dental professionals from many disciplines, as well as head and neck cancer survivors. This year, we are pleased to share that our Board has been expanded to 20 members as we welcomed the following new members who bring fresh perspectives and new energy to the organization. We look forward to a fruitful relationship with them. Welcome aboard!

Ambassador Spotlight: Kris Molnar

In October of 2006, Kris was planning a family journey to Paris. Shortly before departing, Kris’s sinuses began to hurt and glands on the right side of her neck seemed a bit swollen. The Molnars decided to move forward with the family vacation, and Kris’s symptoms didn’t detract from the trip’s excitement. Little did they know, it was the beginning of journey that they never expected.

Upcoming Webinars

Sharing Your Diagnosis and Survivorship Issues

In November, HNCA will offer a webinar presented by a panel of survivors and moderated by a therapist with expertise in working closely with head and neck cancer patients, survivors, and families. Survivors will discuss how they first shared their diagnosis with their loved ones. The discussion will cover what worked well and how best to share the news with family of different ages (children, for example). The webinar will also look ahead to holiday gatherings and how to share information about health-related challenges.

The date and time for this webinar are still being determined. More information will be available soon.
