HNCA and the American Head and Neck Society (AHNS) are pleased to announce the 2022 Virtual Head and Neck Cancer Survivorship Symposium. Join us August 17-18, 2022, for a series of webinars on topics important to thriving in long-term survivorship, including:
  • Nutrition, Swallowing, and Feeding Tube Challenges For Head and Neck Cancer Patients and Survivors
  • Head and Neck Cancer and The Importance of Comprehensive Rehabilitation
  • Head and Neck Cancer Survivorship and Aging
  • Financial Burden of Head and Neck Cancer
  • Managing Stress and Anxiety
  • Dental Care During and Following Treatment
Each webinar is one hour long and includes a Q&A. Session panelists include medical experts, survivors, and other professionals whose experience and knowledge will help attendees continue to thrive in survivorship.

The Survivorship Symposium is made possible through the generous support of:

Ambassador Spotlight: David Burkett

David has made a reasonable effort to keep healthy and fit throughout his busy life as an attorney. In early August of 2019, he started experiencing a dry and sometimes sore throat, but nothing that alarmed him. While exercising on a cardio machine, he suffered piercing pain in his left ear. He then took a photo of his throat and it showed an ugly red tonsil.

HNCA is Looking for Spanish-Speaking and Female Survivor Mentors

HNCA partners with Imerman Angels (IA) to provide peer-to-peer support for the head and neck cancer community. We share the belief that no one should face cancer alone. Through this partnership, we match mentors who share similar cancer journeys with patients, survivors, and caregivers to provide one-on-one emotional support and compassion.

While we recognize that each cancer and life situation is unique, our goal is to connect patients, survivors and caregivers with “Mentor Angels” who’ve faced a similar experience. Mentor Angels give cancer fighters and caregivers the chance to ask personal questions and receive support from a peer who has been down the same road before.

At this time, we are in need of fluent Spanish-speaking mentors. We are also in need of female head and neck cancer survivor mentors. If you are interested in being a mentor, please learn more and sign up today!
