MOVE MODE - ON!

Calling all movers and shakers!

This April, let’s get up, get active, and make a difference with the Move-A-Thon! Whether you walk, run, dance, or even garden—every move you make helps support head and neck cancer patients and survivors. Set your own goal, join the fun, and help raise funds and awareness for our programs. Plus, you’ll be part of an incredible community celebrating strength, resilience, and hope!

And here’s the best part—earn awesome swag while you do it! Raise $100 and snag an Alliance logo t-shirt, and if you keep going, you could score a power bank or even a backpack at higher fundraising levels.

We also have Move-A-Thon shirts available again this year in a variety of colors and sizes. Right now we just have t-shirts, but in the next few weeks we will add a sweatshirt and long sleeve t-shirt options as well.

So why wait? Sign up, start moving, and let’s make an impact together!

MEET OUR AMBASSADORS

GAIL JACKSON
Psychotherapist and Survivor of HPV-attributed Tonsil Cancer; Rehoboth Beach, DE

In January 2018, at the age of 62, Gail experienced a consistent sore throat and felt as if shards of glass were lodged in her throat, and then a growth appeared on the inside of her mouth. A biopsy confirmed that Gail had HPV-related squamous cell cancer on the left tonsil.

Gail ended up having a 12-hour robotic surgery (TORS) to remove the cancer. The surgery included removal of the tumor and left tonsil, a neck dissection, removal of 42 lymph nodes, and a skin graft to act as a ‘flap’ to cover the opening that was inside her mouth.

After the flap was healed enough, she started six weeks of daily proton radiation. Gail is healing and in recovery and her focus is trying to get used to her new normal. “Eating has been a challenge with the reconfiguration of my throat, and my taste and swallowing is altered. I see my medical team every three months. My last scan was good, and I continue to be grateful and prayerful for continued good news,” added Gail.
