2020 Oral Head and Neck Cancer Awareness Week®

2020 Head and Neck Cancer Survivorship Symposium

 

HNCA is excited to announce the first Head and Neck Cancer Survivorship Symposium, presented in partnership with the American Head and Neck Society (AHNS), to be held on July 18, 2020 in Chicago, Illinois. This inaugural program will bring together survivors and caregivers for a day of education and connections. Registration is now open! Information on the program agenda, speakers, and lodging will be available soon. Reserve your seat today!

Ambassador Profile: Kenneth Solomon

HNCA Ambassadors are dedicated to educating the community-at-large about these cancers. Our ambassadors are cancer patients, survivors and/or caregivers whose inspirational journeys give true meaning to what happens when you are diagnosed with cancer, during and post-treatment.

Meet Kenneth Solomon

Ken noticed a lump on his neck one day when he was shaving and from his previous experience as a cancer survivor, he knew that he needed to get it checked right away. Read how having a positive attitude helped him in having a successful recovery.

 

Board & Officer Activities

The dynamic HNCA Board of Directors has been busy educating and advocating for head and neck cancer patients around the world. 

  • Dr. Carole Fakhry and colleagues from Johns Hopkins Medicine in Baltimore collected oral rinse samples of patients as part of a recently published study in JAMA Oncology about using human papillomavirus (HPV) DNA as a potentially effective biomarker for HPV-related head and neck cancer.   • Dr. Jatin P. Shah of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center collaborated with Sir H. N. Reliance Foundation Hospital and Research Centre in Mumbai, India to "bring the finest care to the patients suffering from mouth and throat cancer." READ NOW
  • Dr. Carole Fakhry, was featured in an article encouraging HPV vaccination as prevention for head and neck cancer. READ NOW
  • Dr. Terry Day, HNCA chairman and Wendy and Keith endowed chair of head and neck surgery at Medical School of South Carolina attended the 2019 Tex-Mex Fiesta event, a collaboration of the Farrah Fawcett Foundation and Stand Up 2 Cancer, which took place in early September.
  • Jason Mendelsohn collaborated with PRIME® by sharing his in-depth experience when he was diagnosed and received treatment for stage IV HPV-attributed tonsil cancer. VIEW NOW

You have the power to raise awareness, encourage prevention, promote screening and early detection, and advocate for access to care. Interested in contributing your time or supporting HNCA? We offer a variety of ways to get involved:

  • Organize an awareness or fundraising event in your community;
  • Donate. Your unrestricted gift is key to supporting our mission and our most critical programs;
  • Become a Corporate Partner of events and/or patient-focused or clinician education programs;
  • Partner with our organization and host a screening in your community (only available to clinicians).
